Economics Question
Description
Assignment Instructions:
Your proposal should contain as clear a picture as possible of the question you are asking, why it is interesting, and why you have a chance of contributing something new. Your proposal should also tell as much as you can at this point about how you intend to do your research. You do not need to provide a large amount of background. You do need to provide some motivation that will tell the reader why what you are doing is interesting, but do not feel compelled to provide lots of data or history. Just the bare bones that can suggest why what you are doing is both feasible and worthwhile.
In the professional world, proposals can often form the basis for funders’ decisions to provide money for research projects. Most serious research institutions require very detailed proposals before staff members begin research for the institution.
Your proposal should have five sections.
Introduction: Consists of two parts. In the first part you lay out the context of the research question. You might use examples and also explain why this issue is important. In the second part of the introduction, you discussion your study to include briefly covering your data set. Then end the introduction with a clear hypothesis statement (a statement of causality). Also, explain in a sentence the rationale behind your hypothesis.
Literature Review: Insert your literature review here. Explain how your research builds on or differs from the existing research you have read. You should have theoretical literature to start your literature review. Then move into empirical literature that covers prior, related studies. DO NOT PROVIDE AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY, or a paragraph per paper.
Data sources: Clearly identify data sources
Method of research: Should your mathematical model and clearly define terms. Note, your model can change, but this is your best guess now of the model you plan to use.
Expected outcomes: At the end, tell us about what you expect the results of your research could be. This might be rather general or it might be very specific
