           What is your opinion of the controversial study, “Trouble in the Tearoom?”

   Was Humphreys’ ethical in doing what he did? Are there parts of the research you found were acceptable and other parts that were not?

   Discuss the general trade-offs between the requirements of sound scientific research methods and the need to protect human subjects.

Find a copy of Marvin Wolfgang’s Philadelphia study.  Discuss the technique used and the results.  Suggest an alternative manner of completing such a project, using something other than a cohort design.

   Discuss the challenges of doing similar research.
