Sales pitch Discussion for GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK on Geologic PERIOD

You need to “sell” a pitch on a geologic time destination as if you were a travel agent. Choose a geologic time period (not just an era, but specifically a period) that is relevant to your selected national park and write up a sales pitch for it as a discussion post. Include the era the period belongs to, paleogeography (where the continents are positioned), climate information, the types of flora and fauna that might be observed, the dangers that might be encountered (i.e., you may not be able to sell your customers on visiting during an extinction event), and why it would be interesting to visit that particular place and time. Outside research is allowed and encouraged in order for you to collect the proper details for your sales pitch. Please use the approved geologic resources listed in the orientation module as your primary resources, with minimal use of other outside resources, and include a citation of any resources used.

Ways to lose points:

• Plagiarize answers
• Turn in sloppy answers that seem rushed
• Turn in an incomplete assignment
• Turn in errors in scientific accuracy
• 
  Be mindful of the geologic periods being written about; the entire class shouldn’t be traveling to the Jurassic period. If you see multiple posts about a particular period, consider choosing something more unique – there are plenty of options on the time scale
• There is a difference between geologic time periods and eons, eras, and epochs. Make sure you choose a period to write about. Consult the geologic time scale as needed.
• While there is not a minimum word count, it is hard to make a good sales pitch with a few sentences. Your post should have an adequate length to describe all of the information listed above. That being said this is a sales pitch, not an essay. Be mindful of the length of your post.
• Do NOT copy and paste information directly from your sources. It is your job to read about your chosen period, synthesize that information, and then deliver it in your discussion post in your own words.
• The information you gather about the specific time period will be presented in the final project as part of your brief history of the park. Consider this a chance to select an important time in the park’s history to highlight for your presentation. With that in mind, make sure you are conducting appropriate research about the geologic history of your park.
