Find a video online (YouTube is okay) of a teacher or parent reading to a child (or children), or a literacy-based classroom (general pre-k-5th grade, or an ELA class if looking at older children) and evaluate what literacy practices the adult in the video is using.  You should be able to identify at least 3 based on our reading so far.  

For this assignment you can use any of the materials we’ve previously covered, including articles, videos, podcasts, and slideshows (the BIG IDEAS in Reading will be helpful here).  Consider what strategies the adult reading is using or encouraging the children to participate in.  Think of things like: making connections, sharing ideas with classmates, being active as they read, focusing on vocabulary, sounding out letters or words, associating pictures with the storyline, sequencing, etc.
