scope prep for green hydrogen using solar and reversible fuel cell
Description
Green Hydrogen Production USING SOLAR
For this project the goal will be to develop a model of a reversible fuel-cell integrated in a renewable energy microgrid structure. This will be done using Sim scape, by creating a model that was the ability to act as an electricity generator or electrolyzer. This model will be integrated into a renewable energy microgrid structure, and will then permit evaluation of energy and sizing requirements needed to meet hydrogen production goals.

Background
In a more complete report or technical paper, background information on literature review and discussion of previous work on the topic of the report should be included. The paper is expected to be related to the electric grid and the integration of renewable energy resources. The individual or team is expected to be thorough and comprehensive in reviewing and synthesizing the state of the art in the science and practice of a given set of renewable technology systems. The sections of the paper that are focused on (1) the needed areas of investment and their effective communication to the industry and (2) addressing challenges in a risk-informed way, must focus on the electric grid in the United States. Addressing the identified challenges and opportunities are likely to move the industry beyond its current state.
The paper must include answers to the following key topics:
Key Point 1: What is the state of the art in the science and practice of renewable energy integration?
Key Point 2: What opportunities and challenges exist currently and in the near future for accelerated integration of large-scale renewables?
Key Point 3: What interventions and investments are needed to meaningfully leverage the opportunities and address challenges and blind spots?
Key Point 4: How can the presented opportunities and challenges be addressed in a way that is informed by decision sciences and communicated to the stakeholders
QBS (What It Is and Why We Use It) Discussion
Description
Instructions
In this discussion, you will discuss the process of Qualification-based Selection (QBS) and the advantages/disadvantages of using QBS. Explain in your own words the steps you would have to go through as a design professional to get selected by an owner for a project under QBS. Also, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of QBS from the owner’s perspective.
To earn full credit for this discussion, you must (1) post your initial response and (2) respond to at least two of your peers’ posts. Please see the following details on how you should craft your responses.
Initial Post
- Understanding QBS: Begin by explaining the Qualification-based Selection (QBS) process.
- Steps for Design Professionals: Describe the steps a design professional would take to be selected under QBS.
- Advantages of QBS: Discuss the advantages of QBS from the owner’s perspective.
- Disadvantages of QBS: Address the potential disadvantages.
Response to Peers (Minimum of Two Responses)
- Comparing Views on QBS: After reading your peers’ posts, compare their views on the QBS process with your own. Acknowledge any new insights they provided or aspects you hadn’t considered.
- Encouraging Dialogue: Pose questions about their experiences or thoughts on the balance between quality and cost in QBS. Offer feedback that prompts further reflection on the QBS process.
- Sharing Experiences: If you have any personal experiences with QBS or similar selection processes, share them to provide real-world context and foster a deeper understanding among your peers. https://www.nspe.org/resources/issues-and-advocacy/action-issues/qualifications-based-selection-engineering-services
