criminal justice

Description

The Latin term used in criminology ” lex talionis” basically means laws of retaliation. In other words mean if you did something wrong to someone you deserved to have it happen to you. “Eye for an eye” or “tooth for a tooth” is another way to describe it.  For example if you killed some one else in the ancient world, you’d be sentence to death yourself or even public humiliation. In modern times if you killed someone, in some states you’d be sentence to the death penalty or just a life sentence.
I do believe in the concept of lex talionis, simply because you always get what you give. I know some people don’t agree with the death penalty and that fine but if a person take another life then they should pay with their own. Let me clarify, if its an accident then its an accident and it wasnt intended in a malicious way. I only believe that its perfectly accepted punishment if it was premeditated. I feel like it would give a victims family closure knowing the perpetrator  was paying the price for their crimes.
