Scenario 2: Longing for Home

• What are the ethical and moral dilemmas a social worker faces in this scenario, and how do they relate to the “trolley problem” in the context of making life-altering decisions?
• The client has requested a specific professional recommendation. Describe specific steps a social worker could take in response to this request while adhering to their ethical commitments to both the individual and the organization.
• Analyze the role of interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation in approaching military practice scenarios in which personal values, professional expectations, and ethical responsibilities may not align

1(b) Imagine the following scenario:

A social worker has just received a referral for a new client who is a Petty Officer First Class at the local naval base. According to the referral paperwork, the client has been fighting frequently with his partner and drinking heavily and the partner has threatened to leave him unless he addresses his mental health. The client told the intake coordinator that he doesn’t really want to participate in therapy but is willing to try a few sessions to save his marriage.
