Instructions for Essay 3

Essay #3 is a causal argument that requires at least TWO scholarly resources. Select a topic that lends itself for causal analysis. Remember that a causal argument attempts to answer ‘why and ‘how” questions.

Draft your essay, allowing yourself time to edit, proofread, and peer review. Your paper should be a unified and logically organized essay. It should have an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph.

The introductory paragraph should identify the general topic to be discussed. In addition, it should contain information about the topic as well as your thesis statement, which should be the last sentence in your introduction. Your thesis should make a clear argument explaining the need to examine causes relative to the topic.

The body paragraphs of your paper should begin with the topic sentences outlined in your thesis. Focus on transitioning from paragraph to paragraph smoothly to create the sense that all of your sentences are working towards the same purpose—to prove your argumentative essay. Make sure your body paragraphs include the following:

Evidence: discusses major causes
Integrates at least two sources. The sources should be scholarly and have a direct relationship and relevancy to the topic.
Refutation of opposing arguments: Considers and rejects other possible causes .
Contains some forms of appeals pathos (emotional) ethos (values/belief), and/or logos (factual) as appropriate.

Conclusion: Reinforces the argument’s main point; includes a strong concluding statement

Essay #3 should be at least 750 words and should be in MLA Format including an MLA heading, MLA pagination, a title, and an MLA Works Cited page with corresponding in-text citations (as appropriate). You are expected to quote and/or paraphrase from the TWO sources you’ve chosen to support your argument, and to include a correctly-formatted Works Cited page at the end of the paper. Uses only third person pronouns (all first and second person pronouns are prohibited)

Upon completion of the paper, save the paper by going to “File – Save as” and using the following filename format:

everything should be in MLA format double spaced and not plagiarized. also there need to be in text citations as well as a works cited page. i need someone that is going to be able to correct their problems if needed and if see something that need to be corrected.
