Description

Readings are from Models for Writers, 13th edition, edited by Alfred Rosa and Paul Eschholz.
9. White Lies, 209-211
10. An Indian Father’s Plea, 572-578
11. Momma, the Dentist, and Me, 293-300
12. Life in Motion, 354-358

Before engaging in Discussion 4, read “White Lies” (209-211) by Erin Murphy; “An Indian Father’s Plea” (572-578) by Robert G. Lake-Thom; “Momma, the Dentist, and Me” (293-300) by Maya Angelou; and “Life in Motion” (354-358) by Misty Copeland.

Write a minimum of 500 words following the organizational approach below.

For your first paragraph, write about what you think the most important quality a parent can have is. Focus your content on just one quality. Why is that quality so important? Why is it so hard display? In your second paragraph, discuss how one of the above readings exemplifies the quality you are writing about. In your third paragraph, include an example (either a personal one or a hypothetical one) that enforces the same quality.

The most commonly mentioned quality a parent should cultivate is “love” or “unconditional love.” When constructing your Discussion 4 thread, avoid having “love” or “unconditional love” as your topic. For this assignment, love is too general. There are many ideas, concepts, and facets that go into love. Focus on one of those as an alternative. That is, you can focus on ‘sharing,’ ‘empathy,’ ‘patience,’ etc. All those ideas/qualities are more specific than love, but are also embodied by the general concept of love.

In review, be as specific as possible when stating what quality a parent should cultivate.
