Free write 6

Description

Your sixth freewriting assignment is a “focused freewrite.” When you freewrite, I want you to put fingers to keyboard and write nonstop for 10 minutes. Consider turning off the computer screen so that you can concentrate entirely on ideas without worrying about the appearance of the text. Think aloud without being concerned with spelling, organization, or grammar. Write as fast as you can. If your mind suddenly dries up, just write RELAX. You should be able to write between 200 and 300 words in 10 minutes.

In focused freewriting your purpose is to explore your responses to a question or topic as fully as possible within the 10 minutes time frame. Don’t write until you have reviewed your class notes for this week, and review the Power Point slides in Play Analysis of “The Taming of the Shrew,” slides # 20-34, which are related to Aristotelean Elements of Plot, Character, Thought, Diction, Music and Spectacle. Also, read the first Kate and Petruchio scene in Act II, Scene I, and look at the YOUTUBE video of the scene posted below.

Your topic question for the assignment is: How does an understanding plot, character, thought, diction, music and spectacle contribute to an analysis of Petruchio and Kate’s first scene together in Act II of The Taming of the Shrew. NOTE: Think about this ahead of time. I want you to address all six Aristotelian elements in the 10 minutes time frame.
