compare/contrast two definitions of homeland security: the first was published in the National Strategy for Homeland Security in July 2002 by the office of homeland security and the second was first published in Quadrennial Homeland Security Review Report: A Strategic Framework for a Secure Homeland by the US Dept. of Homeland Security in February 2010.

By comparing/contrasting provide examples of incidents during the past 2 decades that may have influenced the definitions at that point in time and changes.

Definition 1: Homeland security is a concerted national effort to prevent terrorist attacks within the US, reduce America’s vulnerability to terrorism, and minimize the damage and recover form attacks that do occur.

Definition 2: Homeland security is a concerted national effort to ensure a homeland that is safe, secure, and resilient against terrorism and other hazards where American interests, aspirations, and way of life can thrive.
