With your newly acquired knowledge of gender and communication, which course concepts can you apply to one or more of your original examples to demonstrate your enhanced understanding of gendered communication? Use a minimum of two concepts defined in your own words. These definitions will necessarily approximate textbook or lecture definitions but should be paraphrased rather than repeated word for word. For example, you may reinterpret your parent’s account of a childhood preference for your brother’s trucks to the dolls they bought you in the context of gender essentialism. For the purposes of this journal entry, you may assume that your audience is familiar with your definition of a key term. So unless you have strayed from a generally accepted definition, there is no need to cite a source in the text and include a References page. • Briefly summarize one post from a small group member in one of the earlier discussion boards that seems most relevant to one of your original examples. Explain how this peer post directly, or perhaps indirectly, addresses your observation. It may, for example, either support or counter your example and your thoughts on it. For instance, you might have described a Netflix series that subverts traditional gender roles for the division of home labor, a perspective that “Jordan’s” description of their domestic situation either amplifies or challenges. • Where and how will you implement what you have learned in this journal assignment going forward?
