As you have seen from the readings, age plays a critical role in many individuals who become addicted to a substance or behavior. In this discussion, you will apply the information from the module readings to a specific case.

What do you think influenced Dylan and encouraged his use?

Option B: Addiction and SOGI

In this week’s readings, you have learned about the disproportionate rate of addiction among the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) population. In this activity, you will explore this further and identify possible ways to reduce this disparity.

Read the Module 3 notes.
Review the Web sites assigned.
Locate at least one additional academic Web site related to the topic.

Share the Web site that you have located with the class. You may do this by copying the link to the Web site and giving a brief (150 words) description of the content of the Web site in your post. This Web site should be an academic source. Do not post sites that offer opinions.

After reading the module notes and the accompanying readings, answer the following questions:

Identify at least two factors that influence addictive patterns in the LGBT population as discussed in your research.
In relation to these factors, discuss potential steps that might decrease the addiction rates among the LGBT population.
