The New Jersey State Board of Education has mandated the Professional Standards for Teachers as part of teacher licensing regulations. They “illustrate the wide range of knowledge and abilities contemporary educators must possess to provide high-quality instruction and support improved results.”

Stockton’s Teacher Education Program has made teaching you about the Standards a priority. Demonstrate your understanding of the Professional Standards for Teachers by doing the following:

Craft an overview of the Standards, including their purpose, content and structure.

Do Not list all standards! A general overview of standards is needed. (1/2-1 page)

Explain what is meant by Knowledge, Dispositions and Performances. (1 paragraph)

Select two Standards individually, explain them in detail with knowledge, dispositions, and performances plus specifically communicate why you believe they are each especially essential to quality teaching. (2-3 pages)

4. Explain how you will implement each chosen standard above in your teaching. (1-2 pages)

As a future educator, analyze and explain why it is important for you to understand and to use the NJ Professional Standards for Teachers. (1 paragraph)
