Read Mary Midgley’s essay on Moral Isolationism (under Moral Relativism) carefully (review Reading Philosophy, under Introduction). Take notes of the main points or views presented: How does Midgley define Moral Isolationism? How does she see it? Does she endorse this position? What arguments does she offer in her evaluation of this view? What were your reactions to her analysis and evaluation? Do you agree with her? Write two paragraphs:
First paragraph: Summarize the main points of this article. Use the questions above to help you to identify the main issues.
Second paragraph: Discuss your reactions. Describe your experience reading this, what came to mind when you read it, how you felt, issues and/or events you can relate to the analysis, related situations, and any other relevant or related issue you can think of. Finish your paper with your position: whether you agree or disagree with Midgley; give reasons in support of your position.
