After reading chapter 1of the code book, you are to write a 3- page paper on the basic concepts of cryptography you have learned thus far.
Select some of the following concepts and relate them to the reading on the Queen of Scots cipher.

Symmetric Encryption
Substitution cipher
Frequency Analysis
Cryptography / Cryptanalysis
Ciphertext
Plaintext
Key Shift Cipher

As stated in the syllabus, submissions should follow the APA format. Text should be Double – spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font. The references page does NOT count toward the page count of your paper and should be on a separate page.
You may include some additional works. References must be scholarly and cited in the APA format (intext.)

Essential questions to answer:

How does the concept you cited relate to the readings for the week? (Backdooring of encryption / cryptanalysis, Substitution cipher / Queen of Scots, Non-repudiation and Key packages, etc.)
Explain what the concept you selected is. Why is it important? (Ex. Non-repudiation is important because it can prove something did or didn’t happen. Why is that important for a forensic investigation or incident response scenario? Certificate signed things are stamped with the time and a unique value… etc.)
How do these concepts relate to the CIA triad, the basic concepts of security? (You may need to do a little research to find out exactly what this means. It’s important to know.)
