· A famous strike or labor dispute (Ref ch23):

o Provide background of company, its employees, and the dispute itself

o Explain why the action was or was not successful (ref ch23)

o Discuss outcomes and results of the dispute

o Reference pertinent labor law

· A Federal labor law (Ref ch22-23):

o Provide an overview of a Federal law that regulates employment discrimination, immigration, or other labor-related topic

o Cover the origins of the legislation and its purpose

o Who administers the law

o Implications for employers and businesses (ref ch23)

o Other pertinent information and applications of the law

Writing Instructions:

1. Write a three (3) page paper addressing one of the topics listed above.

2. Demonstrate clear, insightful critical thinking of the topic and provide a detailed evaluation of the issues. Compare, contrast and synthesize your overall topic.

3. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

– Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

– Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

4. Support your research with at least two (2) quality academic resources: (1) scholarly journal articles, and/or peer-reviews, and (1) textbooks (one can be from the course), from SGSC Library http://www.sgsc.edu/academics/homepage.cms Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.
