Two Short Essays

Description

For this assignment, you will be required to write to separate short essays. The first essay is only required to be 350 words with 2 sources from the list I have provided for that particular essay. The second essay is required to be at least 500 words with 3 sources. The second essay will not have a list of sources and will require a little more independent research.

Essay 1
The first essay is a little more based on opinion, I have decided to leave the choice of which branch to choose up to you. Although if you rather I choose one for you I can do that as well.

If you were to join the military, which branch and level of service (officer or enlisted) would you choose, and why? As you describe the rationale for your selection, specify the information you used (“I read this information…,” “I know someone who…,” “I saw this ad…”). Be sure to include specifics about why you think your choice would be the best.

Essay 2

For this activity, we’re going to examine women in military history.

Start this activity by reviewing this the list of Notable Women in History document that I have attached in the uploaded documents section. Then select one of the women listed on which to focus.

For the woman you selected, research the time period sufficiently enough to describe the following:

–a biography of the woman you selected (expand a bit on the brief biography provided on the timeline)

–the role of women in society in general – if possible, focus your description on the socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, etc. of the woman you selected

–the state of the military during this time period

–the role of women the military in this time period

Finally, share your perception of the significance of the accomplishments of the woman you selected and the relationship between that/those accomplishment(s) and the role of women in the military.
