Description

The conquistador, Hernan Cortes , relied upon the translation and interpretation skills of a young Native woman named Malinali. She would later become known by other names — La Malinche, Dona Marina, and Malintzin. She was critical to Spanish success. Today she has a very mixed legacy. Some honor her skill and leadership role, while others consider her a traitor of the highest order.
