What To Accomplish

What do you hope to accomplish with your eportfolio? Why and how?

Please research what a eportfolio is before completing the 2 questions above. I have attached a guide that I posted last week. I will share 2 classmates examples here. You can basically sat that I will not be accomplishing anything with my eportfolio because I have 2 businesses that I own so I don’t care to work for anyone that I forsee. If that was to change I would hope to accomplish landing a job as a human resource manager in a large corporation to utilize my degree in preferably the employment equal opportunities department since I have a disability! I will accomplish this by showcasing my skills and my best assignments thus far and make sure that my resume has all of my leadership and management skills on it.

And whatever else you can add to the above!!!!!!!

I must admit that as I have been working on my eportfolio for the last few days I am a bit hesitant. I’m not currently looking to leave the Air Force and the job that I am hoping to land within the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) will require me to completely scrub and remove any social media presence. I don’t have much information about myself out there because of this, my end goal has been to commission into OSI for some time now. My real goal with my eportfolio for this class is to learn the process and see what it is all about so in the future if I decide to put myself out there in an attempt to attract civilian organizations that I will be prepared to do so. I have thought about leaving active duty in the past as many do but I’ve already made it halfway to my pension and staying in until twenty and then pursuing another profession is the best choice that I have in today’s day in age. COVID has really been an eye-opener for me as I’ve watched many friends and entrepreneurs lose their livelihoods. I’m thankful to be learning these great skills but I’m not sure that I am ready to fully commit to an eportfolio at this time, mostly just because I don’t want to include enough personal information on it to really be attractive to potential employers. I hope this decision doesn’t end up negatively impacting my grade in this course because I’ve worked hard throughout the course of my major and am coming in with a 4.0.

Most of my papers and assignments I have done for previous classes have been about my current employer. My degree is with a concentration in human resources, which is a department that my organization is severely lacking, especially with having over one thousand employees (or what we call team members). Since I started my master’s program, I have been in touch with the executive team in my organization, and they have actually provided me with a scholarship, as well as the ability to create my own human resource job, as well as help shape the future human resource department. I am SUPER excited and very fortunate, because I am able to start utilizing my degree right away and do not have to start at the bottom due to my inexperience.

With all this backstory, I plan to use my eportfolio by showcasing my thoughts of how the human resource department should develop and my ideologies on the organization itself; essentially, just what I think that the organization should do moving forward to continue getting better. I will present my eportfolio to my executive team, and I hope to create the human resource department that my organization so desperately needs.

My ultimate goal is to become a strategic manager within the human resource department. Within my last few classes, I have learned that it is easier to prevent the problem rather than trying to fix it once it happened. Being proactive rather than reactive is something my organization believes in, and I plan to make them better.
