Instructions from the syllabus…
The goal of your connection essay is to connect what you have learned in the textbook chapter, supplemental articles and lecture to your life experiences. You will be using the readings and lecture to analyze your personal phenomenon.
This can include (but is not limited to) family, friends, school, extracurricular activities, work, favorite interests or hobbies, time spent on social media, etc.
This assignment is intended to encourage your engagement with the topics; it is not simply a summary of the readings. Your writing should be concise, but must exhibit a strong dedication to the exploration of lecture, class readings, and your life experiences.
Each essay should:
Be at least 500 words (approximately 2 double-spaced pages)
Be well-organized with a strong, coherent presentation of ideas
Have a paragraph for each lecture and reading:
Introduction Paragraph
Use the lecture to analyze your life experiences
Use the textbook chapter to analyze your life experiences
Use the article to analyze your life experiences
Use the second article (if there is one)
Conclusion Paragraph
Each paragraph needs to specifically cite what you are utilizing from the readings.
A simple, in-text citation with the author’s last name and page number will suffice. The format should be as follows (Author Last Name; Page Number).
The textbook is written by multiple authors, therefore when citing it use (Kierns et. al., Page Number), so citations will look like this ————> (Kierns et. al., 221).
The articles are usually brief, but please still use the same author and page number format. For instance, (Hernandez, 3)
The lecture references can simply be cited with my last name, (Griffin)
Not quote excessively. If you must quote, keep it as brief as possible.
Demonstrate excellent use of grammar, punctuation and spelling
The connection essay deadline is Thursday at 11:59pm
