Guidance for Conducting the Interview and Writing the Report
1. Selecting an Interviewee:
– Choose someone from a different generation (e.g., grandparent, neighbor). Can also be younger .
– Ensure they are comfortable sharing personal experiences.
2. Preparing for the Interview:
– Focus on sociological themes (e.g., family, education, work, technology).
2a. Interview questions:
- Can you describe how your childhod was different from today’s childrens experiences? What were the primary values and norms instilled in you by your family and community?
- How did the education system and schooling during your time shape your worldview and social interactions? Were there any notable differences in how different genders were treated or in the subjects they were encouraged to pursue?
- What were the common expectations around work and careers in your generation? How did your gender, ethnicity, or social class affect your career opportunities and choices?
- How did the media and technology available in your youth influence your social interactions and awareness of the world? What are some significant changes you’ve observed in how different generations communicate and form social connections?
3. Conducting the Interview:
– Record the conversation (with permission) for accuracy.
– Be respectful, listen actively, and take notes.
4. Writing the Report:
-Introduction: Introduce the interviewee and provide context.
– Summary of Interview: Summarize key points and anecdotes.
– Sociological Analysis: Link interview insights to sociological concepts and theories.
– Personal Reflection: Reflect on what you learned about generational differences and your perspective.
5. Formatting:
– 3-4 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font.
– Include headings for each section.
Focus on providing a thoughtful and well-rounded narrative that highlights generational contrasts and sociological insights.

1. Interview Conducted (15 points)
– 15-12 points: Comprehensive and in-depth interview, engaging questions.
– 11-8 points: Adequate interview, some relevant questions.
– 7-4 points: Basic interview, several missed opportunities for depth.
– 3-0 points: Poor or incomplete interview, few relevant questions.
2. Report Structure and Clarity (10 points)
– 10-9 points: Clear, well-organized report, easy to follow.
– 8-6 points: Generally clear, some organizational issues.
– 5-3 points: Difficult to follow, poorly organized.
– 2-0 points: Very unclear, disorganized.
3. Sociological Analysis (15 points)
– 15-12 points: Strong sociological insights, clear connections to theory/text.
– 11-8 points: Good insights, some connections to theory/text.
– 7-4 points: Basic insights, few connections to theory/text.
– 3-0 points: Lacks sociological analysis, no connections to theory/text.
4. Depth of Reflection (10 points)
