Practitioner Profile AND Informal Presentation – Practioner Profile

Description

Practitioner Profile

Each student must interview a working professional, preferably in a peacebuilding field, focused on their experience with negotiation and the insights they might share with you about how they cultivated their skills, and any insights and advice they can share with you. You will write a short analytical paper, providing the background needed to ground your analysis and incorporating the insights from the interview into your learning. You will also present your learning in a brief, informal presentation to our class.

The purpose of the interview is to learn about the professional negotiation experience of this practitioner, the extent to which negotiation is a part of their professional practice and how that manifests, how they developed their negotiation skills (formal education or on-the-job), their greatest challenges with negotiation, something they wish they had learned earlier in their career related to negotiation and their negotiation advice to you for your future practice.

This should also be a networking opportunity for you to learn about this person’s professional development, insights from their experience, and to share how you can incorporate the information you learned from this interview to improve your own professional practice and development with your negotiation skills.

Papers will be evaluated based on the quality of your interview, your demonstrated understanding of course concept(s), your effective integration of the insights gained into your own development, the quality of your analysis of their insights, and your key takeaways from this experience. Length is 5 pages. Informal presentation/discussion of profiles and key lessons from the experience will be made in class. The practitioner profile and subsequent, informal presentation will count for 15% of your final grade.

Informal Presentation – Practioner ProfileYour assignment was to make a very brief 3–4-minute informal presentation about your Practitioner Profile highlighting the key insights and how to apply them to your professional development.
