Discussion Topic: MEOW #4: Goals and MotivationMEOW #4: Goals and Motivation
This exercise asks you to focus on your motivation. Follow the steps below.
1. Write down your Top-5 goals. What are your most important goals right now?
2. Spend a moment thinking about the most important people in your life. Write 50-words about them. Who are they and why are they important to you?
3. After thinking about the most important people in your life, update and re-write your Top-5 goals. Have they changed?
4. Now spend a moment thinking about your death. Write your own eulogy in 50-words (what you would like someone to say at your funeral). What would you like written on your tombstone.
5. After considering your death, again update and re-write your Top-5 goals. Have they changed again?
6. Consider the emotions that are behind your motivation. Write a 100-word analysis of how your emotions guide your goals.
7. Lastly, list all of the things that you would be willing to die for. This is a priority setting exercise. What is the most important thing to you; so important you’d be willing to give up your life for them (loved ones, possessions, or even concepts)? Even further, what would you be willing to give up everything for?
This exercise is meant to re-center your motivation and ask you to focus on what is really the most important things in your life, hopefully putting things in your life into a healthy perspective, and potentially promoting gratitude for the things you have.
