Earthquakes occur daily on planet earth. Below is the United States Geological Survey’s website that give us the information in real-time of all current earthquakes/hazards.

Review the recent earthquakes and choose one earthquake that you feel is related to recent plate tectonic activity and has a magnitude greater than 5.0.

For your earthquake, explain the 1) tectonic setting that may have caused the earthquake, 2) the magnitude of the earthquake, the date/time it occurred, 3) the depth of the earthquake and maps that show the location (see Interactive Map), 4) the Shake Map and the Did You Feel It map.

The maps can be found if you click on the fault in the area of Significant Earthquakes in the last 30 days.

Submit your report in MS Word and/or pdf format AND include a location map of your earthquake and Shake Map/Did You Feel It maps if available.
