  • Apply the normal distribution, standard normal distribution, and central limit theorem.
  • Develop a confidence interval for a population parameter.
  • Evaluate hypothesis tests for population parameters from one population.
  • Evaluate hypothesis tests for population parameters from two populations.

Scenario

You are currently working at Bayes Memorial Hospital in the Infectious Diseases Unit. Over the past few days, you have noticed an increase in patients admitted with a particular infectious disease. You believe that the ages and weights of these patients play a critical role in the method used to treat the patients. You decide to speak to your manager, and together you work to use statistical analysis to look more closely at the statistics of these patients.

You do some research and put together the attached spreadsheet of the data that contains the following variables

  • Patient number
  • Infection disease status
  • Age of the patient
  • Weight of the patient in pounds
  • InstructionsThe Excel spreadsheet contains eight tabs. The first tab, labeled “data”, requires you to calculate all measures of center and variation for the age and weight variables using the correct Excel formulas. The next seven tabs contain questions for you to complete.
You must submit the spreadsheet with the completed calculations, answers, and analysis. Ensure that you are completely answering all questions with steps shown, explanations, and correct formatting.
