Week 4.

Description

Introduction

Most leaders agree that the change process is easier when they receive buy-in from the employees. When employees understand the change, they often have less resistance and are more willing to assist the leader with the change efforts. In this discussion, you will have the opportunity to review changes that you have been a part of and consider how having the data to support the change was important. For this discussion, read the Lussier & Achua text, Chapter 11.

Initial Post Instructions

For your initial post, address the following: Change often causes resistance. For this week’s discussion consider a real-world example you have been involved with that dramatically altered a major business process or practice. Define how leadership anticipated change and prepared the team to implement the new process. What leadership skills were required. How did the leader communicate? If your example was ineffective or caused issues, discuss opposite approach, determine ways the leadership could have acted differently. Be specific as to specific leadership skills and styles could have been used to be successful during the change process.

Secondary Posts Instructions

For responses, consider your classmates initial posts and discuss alternative approaches to the change process. Utilize Kurt Lewin’s force-field model of change to support your ideas and recommendations.

Tips for Success

At the start of our course, it is critical to focus on expectations listed. The minimum at the graduate level will earn an 80% score. An A represents complex analysis and demonstration of understanding. Courses are very fast paced and require strong time management skills. Finally, restating readings does not achieve the goal. Instead, you must include scholarly references to illustrate this next level of learning.
