PurposeThis assignment will help you to understand the social problem as a product of the operation of society–the doings of people, and thus, the “defining moment” when people become conscious that the taken-for-granted human condition affects a disproportionate number of people, and threat to the normal public order.DirectionsThe initial post and the comments have different due dates. Please pay attention to the different due dates.Part 1: Initial ResponseIn studying Social Problems, sociologists (and historians) identify “the defining moment” or a specific trigger event that brought about the need for social change (or the need to resist the status quo).Do a library research on the problem you selected in Module 10. Submit your initial response guided by the following prompts:Give a brief history/background story of the social issue, and why and/or how it became a Social Problem.
