Description

For my final project, I want to research “Communication Accommodation Theory.” This theory is about how people change the way they talk and act to either connect with others or stand out. In my paper, I’ll look at why people make these changes, how it affects their relationships, and how this theory shows up in everyday conversations and social situations

Write a paper of 750-1,000 words (excluding references) in which you provide an overview of your communication theory or concept, summarize 3 studies in which it has been applied, and reflect on the role it plays in your personal life. Your paper should contain the following sections:

Overview of Communication Concept
Your audience is a layperson who has never heard of this concept or theory before. You should describe how the concept was developed and what aspect(s) of communication it explains. Discuss the major components of the concept and mention any critiques or shortcomings, if applicable.

You should cite at least 2 sources in this section. For this portion of your paper only, your sources do not need to be from peer-reviewed journals.

Use in Research
Summarize three studies related to your communication concept. Remember, these articles must come from peer-reviewed journals and must be studies with methods and results. (No reviews or meta-analyses). Summarize each study separately, including:

1) The study’s purpose (What questions are the researchers trying to answer?)

2) A brief description of methods (How do they collect data to answer the questions?)

3) Results (What are the answers to the questions?)

4) Implications (What do the results mean? Why does this research matter?)

5) The significance of the communication theory/concept in this study.

Rather than using in-text citations in this section, begin your summary of each study with a bold, italicized heading of the article’s title.

Personal Impact
Describe when/how you have observed this concept in your own life. You can discuss how you have personally been affected by the concept, how it has influenced people you know, or the impact it has on society in general. You should provide specific examples and clearly/accurately explain how they relate to the concept.

You do not need to cite sources in this section, but if you choose to, please use APA in-text citations.

References
Beginning on a new page and following APA format, list all sources cited in your paper. You should have at least 5 sources total.
