The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the state agency in charge of monitoring and regulating air quality. The Air Programs division handles different parts of air pollution control, including tracking air quality, enforcing regulations, and supporting efforts to improve air cleanliness. This website will be useful for analyzing past reports on particulate pollution and the state’s current initiatives to help reduce air pollution.

RVAgreen 2050 action and resilience planning initiative was formed and how its goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that are being impacted by climate change (RVAgreen 2050: Climate Equity Action Plan 2030 2024). This website goes over the entire process, discusses actions that could reduce community vulnerability to impacts of climate change, and makes assessments and solutions for residents such as those below the poverty line who are more likely to be affected

The information in your outline will contain the work you have already done in weeks 1-4 but expanded to include specific information from your sources on your environmental issue.

The Outline Format: Your outline must be formatted as described and exemplified in the example linked above – an alphanumeric outline created with MS Word and saved as a .pdf, .doc or .docx file type only. Please note other formats cannot be read by the system and will not be accepted.

• Use an alphanumeric sequence
• Sections should be indented and aligned
• Follow the suggested order of the required topics/subtopics
• Use brief but detailed and descriptive phrase (no full paragraphs, rather be very concise)
• Title should be informative and reflect your chosen topic

Please make note of the following general tips and tricks for your Outline:

• I understand that this is a rough draft and, as your research and writing continue over the next few weeks, details may be added or changed. Although you do not have to resubmit it to me, I recommend that you update this outline to help you best complete the final presentation.
• Write your outline so that it has detailed and descriptive phrases in bulleted format. It should not be in paragraph form, rather be concise.
• All internal citation references (in-text-citations) should be listed on the reference page, and vice versa.
• Use your own words (paraphrase). For help with paraphrasing, please review the ‘Quoting and Paraphrasing‘ help in the Trefry Library Writing@APUS Center.
• Note that your Turnitin report similarity score should be under 20% (not including references) and free of paraphrasing issues. Review the color-flagged text on your report, fix any issues, and resubmit again before the deadline (this assignment is set to unlimited submissions until the deadline).
• Note that less than 10% of your work should contain direct quotes.
