Begin by reflecting on your own background, experiences, and beliefs that shape your worldview and your approach to engineering design. Think about the personal values that are important to you. Consider how these values influence your decision-making process and your design choices. Think about cultural, social, or familial influences that impact your perspective on engineering design problems. Reflect on any past experiences or encounters that have shaped your attitudes towards specific design considerations, stakeholders, or decision-making approaches.
1. Application. Answer the following questions:
How does this project relate to what is important to you?
How have your values influenced design decisions that you have made this semester? (Provide specific examples from this semester.)
How have your values influenced how you have worked with your teammates this semester?
2. Review. Answer the following questions:
When are your values helpful when making engineering design decisions?
When do your values cause problems?
What might you do differently to change the impact of your values?

Submission Guidelines. Submit an essay that answers all of the questions from Sections 1 and 2. Please clearly label the two sections (Application and Review). Your essay should be well-written and professional.
Grading
The essay will be graded on three criteria:
1. Completeness. The essay addresses all of the questions.
2. Depth. The essay provides insights into the student’s decision-making process, including specifics about the values.
3. Clarity and professionalism. The grammar, spelling, organization, and format are correct and professional. The language is professional, not informal.
