After reading the posts in Module 5, we can see that there are many in our class who actively apply utilitarianism in daily life. When faced with a decision or dilemma, we often ask ourselves how our decision will result in a greater balance of good over evil.  

Unpacking the ethical theory of utilitarianism, you will do the following in this week’s forum: 

Part 1: Essay Response      

1. Share a moral action that have taken within the last year, in which you chose to apply utilitarianism. Briefly introduce the action and discuss the circumstances.
2. Define utilitarianism and discuss why this theory fits to explain your action. Discuss whether this was act or rule based in nature. 
3. Lastly, discuss the outcome and how a greater balance of good over evil resulted. 
   
   You must do the following in your discussion post.
