Project-2

Description

A .mat file is given with this project that contains one period of a periodic signal. Use the
formulas of the exponential Fourier series and the definition of the total harmonic distortion
(Audio engineer’s formula) to calculate the total harmonic distortion of the given signal. In your
calculations, you have to just find the first harmonic. You need to manipulate the THD formula
and represent it as a function of only the first harmonic.
Note 1: The .mat file contains an N ́2 matrix. The first column is the time vector and the second
column is the magnitude vector. You can use the time vector for the integration.
Note 2: You may save and load data into or from a .mat file using “save” and “load”
commands, respectively. Please look at the MATLAB help to learn about these two commands.
Note 3: You need to write a short report of how you calculated the THD, and explain your
MATLAB code. The MATLAB code should be included in the report. You need to submit your
report as a PDF or MS Word to the Turnitin on the Blackboard. The system will cross check your
submission with the rest of the class for possible plagiarism. Please also note that if you
plagiarize, you will receive zero in the course and you will be reported to the university for
disciplinary actions. Keep in mind that the Turnitin is very smart in catching plagiarism.
