To it me the statistic that CEOs have been reported to report mental issues because of toxic environments was really interesting. It also goes to show that just because CEOs are in a position of high power and make more than the rest of the employees, it doesn’t always mean they are happier. The other the statistic that that both surprised and saddened me was the when asked, 88% of employees would leave their job to work for a boss that was empathetic. How 88% of workers feel like they are in a toxic work place where there is no empathy. It is very sad that this is a harsh reality and that so many people are dealing with this issue. The main issues was the their jobs were not flexible. Employees wanted better working hours, an open door policy, etc. They just want a more calm and welcoming environment.

The article sheds light on a growing issue in the workplace—mental health—and emphasizes the importance of empathy in creating supportive environments. As a second-year student, I can see how this applies to both our academic and future work lives. Many people, especially Gen Z, struggle with mental health at work, which makes it essential for companies to offer resources that foster well-being.
The data in the article is eye-opening, especially how more employees and even CEOs are dealing with mental health issues. I think this is a good reminder that mental health doesn’t just affect “other people,” but it’s a concern for everyone, regardless of their role. For me, one of the most valuable points is how empathy in the workplace can help. It seems like small actions, like offering flexible hours, or having open conversations about mental health, can create a big difference in preventing burnout and stress.
