1. Please answer both of these questions in a Discussion Board Post

• Consider the following “Populist” countries during years 1945sih-1960ish: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia. Which one would you want to live in and why? Which one would you pass on and and why?
• Pick one of the following: Ed Sullivan, Elvis Presley, Jack Kerouac, Pablo Neruda, Jorge Borges, Carolina Maria de Jesús, “Che” Guevara or Evita Peron and explain why they are significant in the context of our class. Are there any that you had heard of before taking this class?

• Since this is a discussion board post I am looking for original thoughts and creativity in each of your posts!

2. Please answer both of these questions in a Discussion Board Post

• Pick ONE these people: Getúlio Vargas, Lázaro Cárdenas, Hipólito Yrigoyen or José Batlle y Ordóñez and compare them to Franklin D Roosevelt. Please give specific examples. If you need some topics to compare/contrast, don’t hesitate to contact me 🙂

And once you watch your film, pretend you are a critic and say if you liked the movie, and then tell what facts that you learned in the class were shown in the film 🙂

3. 1) In your own words, describe why many nation’s in South America turned to Military Dictatorships in the 1960s-80s? (10 Points)

2) If a country’s leader of a South American military dictatorship got caught in a similar scandal as Nixon did in Watergate, what do you think would have happened? (10 Points)

3) History books often paint the 1970s as being a troubled time in America (and not just cause I was born in this decade). Using specific examples, do you agree with this negative assessment of the 1970s. (20 Points)
