Interview a child care program director who has held the position for at least one year. Write a report of the interview. The following are areas to cover in the interview.

1. How do children’s behavior problems that are beyond the typical development expectations affect the program?
2. What are the most common behavior problems?
3. How does the agency handle the behavior problems?
4. Have mental health problems of staff affected the program and how has this been handled?
5. What are the emergency procedures?
6. Have you ever had an emergency? What was the emergency? If so how was it handled?
7. What information is obtained for health records at the agency? What immunizations are required for children and staff?
8. What health information is required for staff?
9. Does the agency have a child care health consultant? If so what is the role of that person?
10. What are the cleaning routines for the facility?
11. Has the agency had any experience with child abuse or neglect? How was this handled?
12. Has the agency had a staff person accused of abuse or neglect? How was this handled?
13. As the director if you can have a copy of the written health policies.
14. Does the facility accept children with special needs? If so, how are children with special needs handled?
