Stroke patients in cook county, IL has access to a variety of different organizations that promote health initiatives. To name a few, Illinois Department of Public Health partners with hospitals to promote campaigns in their local communities, specifically those that have the higher health disparities. The Department also identifies hospitals capable of providing emergent stroke care and directs EMS providers to transport acute stroke patients. . The Department also distributes grants from Hospital Stroke Care Funds through EGrAMS and participates in the State Stroke Advisory Subcommittee of the State EMS State Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. Another organization would be cook county health department. The other health initiative would be Cook County Hospital Systems. They have recognized for their community efforts in providing 1:1 and community wide education on healthy lifestyles, early onset of signs of strokes. Additionally, they provide group support for stroke patients and access to facilities for patients that are high risk for strokes, such as those that are hypertensive and with heart conditions.
