Part 1

In part one A of this discussion, you will consider means that organizations and their leaders use to adapt to the environment around them. Discuss how leaders use assumptions about and identification of organizational components such as mission, strategy, and goals to help build an organization’s culture.

In part one B of this discussion, identify tools of internal integration and discuss how these are used to help build and solidify the organization’s culture and how these are leveraged to help the organization’s assumptions regarding its relationship with the external world (see above) become reality.

Part 2

In this paper, you will focus on how groups interact, impact and are impacted by an organization’s culture. Using your current place of employment as a basis for analysis, (or a previous employer if you prefer), describe your work group using the following dimensions:

  • Language.
  • Boundaries and criteria for inclusion and exclusion.
  • Power and status.
  • Norms of intimacy.
  • Rewards and punishment.
  • How meaning is given to unexplainable events.

Then, review how the group defines the following:

  • The nature of reality and truth.
  • Time and space.
  • Human nature, activity, and relationships.

Provide a summary of 3-5 page summary addressing how these elements come together to help groups define their reality and relationship to the organization’s culture overall. Your paper should be double-spaced addressing the points above and should cite supporting information according to APA or MLA.
