New Market Plan Oral Presentation Script

Description

Instructions

This week, drawing on your rough draft of your New Market Plan, you will plan, rehearse, and record a five-minute oral presentation for an audience of prospective customers/clients in your target country. SCRIPT

Your goal is to describe and explain your plan for this particular audience in a way that is informative, culturally aware, and culturally persuasive. To be successful, you will need to apply relevant concepts and strategies you have learned to make sure your oral presentation comes across to your prospective customers/clients through the lens of their culture as respectful, aware of local norms and values, and persuasive.

As you plan and rehearse your oral presentation, you should by all means consider including elements that speak to pathos (the emotional level of communication) and ethos (the speaker’s authority and reputation) as well as logos (the level of reason and facts). For example, you might consider using humor in places, or offering a vision of a happier future that will be achieved in part thanks to your business. However, you should make sure the type of humor you use and the way you paint a happy future—or whatever other elements you include—align with local values and attitudes.

Finally, this oral presentation is also an opportunity to put into practice things you have learned in COM 3100 about the many aspects of nonverbal communication. Based on what you have learned about the culture of your country and the audience you’re presenting to, how should you dress? What hand gestures and facial expressions should you use? Should you express enthusiasm about your ideas or speak in a more measured way? And so on.
