In chapter 6 we discussed the working theory of the evolutionary origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts as defined by the Endosymbiont Theory. We briefly outlined three, main pieces of evidence related to the structural similarities between mitochondria, chloroplasts, and bacteria, but this doesn’t scratch the surface of the complexity and specificity of this discussion.
