RESEARCH PLAN: CHAPTER THREE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
For this assignment, you will complete a working copy of Chapter 3 of your dissertation. In Chapter 3, you will provide a detailed description of the methods of your study. The more work you put into Chapter 3 now, the less work you will have to do when you enter EDUC 989 with your Chair.
INSTRUCTIONS
After completing the assigned reading, candidates will use the Qualitative Dissertation Template located in the SOE Doctoral Community. The SOE Doctoral Community link is located on the Research Plan: Chapter Three Assignment page under Research Plan Resources. The candidate will submit a well-developed draft of the third chapter of his/her research plan, including all front matter found in the Qualitative Dissertation Template. Candidates will complete each section of Chapter 3—Overview, Design, Research Questions, Setting, Participants, Procedures, The Researcher’s Role, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Trustworthiness, Ethical Considerations and Summary—paying special attention to required components and examples. Remember to write in future tense as you are simply proposing the study right now. The Participant section will not be able to be fully written as you do not know your participant demographics yet, but please include basic information about your proposed sample. Additionally, please see the following:
• There is no required length, but each section outlined on the template must be completed in full
• All citations should follow APA 7th edition guidelines
• There is no required number of citations for Chapter 3, but a completed proposal (Chapters 1-3) should have a minimum of 100 sources
• All sources should be scholarly sources
