It is important to reflect on one’s philosophy early in your nursing studies. The values and beliefs which you hold are the guiding principles that affect the decisions you make in the clinical area. “Philosophy explains why you do the things you do and why you do them in the way you do them” (Feynman, 1988). No one else will do the same actions as you do even in similar situations.

This philosophy assignment reflects your values and beliefs that until now has served as the basis of your decisions. Identify individuals who have influenced your beliefs and reflect on how these people influenced you. Follow the criteria closely.

CRITERIA:

1. Identify and discuss three (3) principles that guide your decisions in life.

2. Identify and discuss at two individuals (immediate or extended family, family friends, mentors, leaders or teachers) that influenced your values or beliefs. Support the discussion with specific examples such as a brief anecdote (a story on the efforts they employed to pass the value to you), or how these people modeled the value, which resulted in a lasting impression in your life.

3. As a future nurse, discuss how/why the values you identified are essential in your future nursing practice.

4. This philosophy paper should be in APA format and two-three pages in length not counting your title page or reference page.

5. Submit and follow due dates published in the course calendar.
