RESERVATION TRASH ESSAY

The essay is to be completed by Sunday, September 19th at 11:59 pm. Must be 500 – 750 words in length. The essay must be 12 pt. double spaced and must have a heading and title. Essay will be graded on grammar, MLA format, word count, and content. Any sources used to support your responses must be properly cited. Owl Purdue and other MLA guidelines are always available. If you have questions, visit me in my office or make appointment for conference.

Essay must list word count in the heading:

Word count

Essay must include quotes from the book with in-text citation.

Example:

The author states, “Freedom is the absence of compulsion,” when distinguishing between people who are free and those who are not (Reservation 59).

In Reservation Trash, the author state, “Freedom is the absence of compulsion,” when distinguishing between people who are free and those who are not (59).

Essay will include a separate “Works Cited” page which included ANY SOURCE you use.

Choose one of the following subjects:

1. Compare the lives of Kristy, Jonas, and Lucien. Discuss how you think their upbringing contributed to their personalities.

2. Compare the author’s (Kristy’s) statements on race, freedom, and rights with what you have been taught or have learned in your lifetime. Must include examples.

3. On page 73 of Reservation Trash, Kristy expresses his opinion of work. Discuss his ideas (what they were and the validity of his statement) and how this might apply to your own life.
