Question:

Describe the most important institutions Spanish explorers, soldiers, and settlers used to colonize New Spain’s northern frontier between 1521 and 1821. Explain how these institutions functioned and the advantages and disadvantages associated with each. Identify at least two important explorers who made important contributions to our knowledge of Spain’s northern frontier. Analyze the methods used by Spanish colonists and authorities to incorporate the Indian population into Spanish society in the borderlands and how Spanish colonization impacted Native Americans.
