For this Assessment, use the concepts in your learning from the class to examine the challenges faced by the juvenile justice system.
In a 4–6 page (excluding cover page), expository essay:
• Analyze three challenges and unique issues that the juvenile justice system faces in the 21st Century.
• Analyze the impact the increasing number of child abuse and neglect cases has on the juvenile justice system.
• Provide specific data on the increase of child abuse and neglect cases.
• Discuss the future challenges facing the juvenile justice system.
Note: This Assessment will require outside research. Use at least three external research sources, including academic journals, to support your work. You may consult the Library, the internet, the textbook, other course material, and any other outside resources in supporting your task, using proper citations and references in APA style. Discuss how you evaluated the credibility of the resources used.
In addition to fulfilling the specifics of the Assessment, a successful paper must also meet the following criteria:
• Your paper must include a title page and reference page in 12-point font. (Times New Roman.)
• Viewpoint and purpose should be clearly established and sustained.
• Assessment should follow the conventions of Standard English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.).
• Writing should be well ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful.
• Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics.
• Appropriate 6th edition APA formatting and citation style should be followed.
You should also make sure to:
• Include a title page with full name, class name, section number, and date.
• Include an introductory and concluding paragraph and demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard English.
• Use examples to support your discussion.
• List all sources on a separate reference page at the end of your paper and cite them within the body of your paper using 6th edition APA format and citation style. For more information on APA guidelines, visit the Academic Success Center.
Minimum Submission Requirements
• This Assessment should be a Microsoft Word (4-6 page) document, in addition to the title and reference pages.
• Respond to the questions in a thorough manner, providing specific examples of concepts, topics, definitions, and other elements asked for in the questions. Your submission should be highly organized, logical, and focused.
• Your submission must be written in Standard English and demonstrate exceptional content, organization, style, and grammar and mechanics.
• Your submission should provide a clearly established and sustained viewpoint and purpose.
• Your writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful.
• A separate page at the end of your submission should contain a list of references, in APA format. Use your textbook, the Library, and the internet for research.
• Be sure to cite both in-text and reference list citations where appropriate and reference all sources. Your sources and content should follow proper APA citation style. Review the writing resources for APA formatting and citation found in Academic Tools. Additional writing resources can be found within the Academic Success Center.
• Your submission should:
o include a cover sheet;
o be double-spaced;
o be typed in Times New Roman, 12 -point font;
o include correct citations
o be written in Standard English with no spelling or punctuation errors; and
o include correct references at the bottom of the last page.
If work submitted for this competency assessment does not meet the minimum submission requirements, it will be returned without being scored.
