Case Study Development Paper & Presentation

Your project will enable you apply the theories of this course to authentic organizational situations. You may choose to use an existing case study not previously examined within this course or elsewhere in the MSOLM program (i.e., from the Harvard Business Review) or an actual situation with which you are involved – to differ from the case you analyzed in OLM 501. The summary of your project and findings will be shared with the class during the last scheduled session on Thursday, August 20th from 6pm-9pm. The case study should relate to one of the themes of this course including organizational change, systems theory, or teamwork in organizations. Please note that this course does not allow the use of quotations in your papers.

In a five page paper (written in doubled spaced, 12-point font Times New Roman, 1″ margins on all sides, past tense, and active voice) and accompanying visual presentation – address the following:

Provide a thorough (not brief, as was the case with the prior cases you examined in this course) analysis and overview of the case. Assume that reader is not familiar with the organization or issues and is relying solely on your paper and presentation. What were the major leadership issues? How were these issues addressed? Assess the effectiveness to which these issues were addressed, based on the literature.
Classify the leadership issues into one of the following three categories: Change leadership, Team dynamics, or Organizational systems. Provide support in the professional literature as related to these three topics, from either within this course, from other courses in your graduate program, and/or other literature, to support your classification.
Place yourself in the role of a leader in the presented scenario. What actions were executed? How did your recommended actions compared to what was presented in the scenario? Why? Provide justification as based on the professional literature.
